Expanded indications and utility of the EFAST skillset

Lindsay Bridgford’s clinical interests include general emergency medicine and paediatric and women’s emergency care. He practices and teaches basic to advanced emergency and critical care focused ultrasound, within the ED and through the ASUM CCPU program, and University of Melbourne post-graduate award courses. He holds several ultrasound qualifications, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography. He supervises a Special Skills Placement in ultrasound at Maroondah Hospital in East Ringwood.

About my talk

The presentation aims to challenge commonly held beliefs regarding EFAST, such as: there is little indication for EFAST because CT will always be required, there is no indication in paediatrics, and there are no indications for the skillset outside of trauma.
